Hello dear pupils, first of all I must thank you for your support and encouragement. I’m sorry it’s been quite a long time since I last communicated with you through this blog. Lately with my Year 6 pupils we went for a very interesting visit to Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples at Qrendi. It was an extremely interesting and educational outing. Afterwards we carried out our Science Fieldwork in the surrounding area, the area is very suitable for fieldwork, with many different types of plants and shrubs and also many kinds of insects.

These past couple of weeks Year 5 pupils familiarized with the various uses of mirrors and discovered the versatility of such a simple yet marvelous piece of glass!! We also constructed our own spying instrument: THE PERISCOPE. Periscopes are special instruments which people use to look at things from a hidden position. A periscope is made out of a long tube with parallel mirrors situated at both ends at a 45degree angle. The mirrors reflect an image from one end of the periscope to another so that you can observe what is happening without being seen. Periscopes are mostly used in submarines. We had great fun constructing our periscopes and using them!

Students of Year 6 from Mosta Primary B visited the NSTF Science Expo being held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta. We took part in a Robotics workshop where students got the opportunity to build and programme their own robots! We also viewed an audiovisual presentation on the Maltese Marine Biodiversity and took part in a talk given by representatives of the Malta Intelligent Energy Management Agency on ALTERNATIVE ENERGY. Later on we visited the Science Art Exhibition where we could admire many interesting works of art including works submitted by students from Mosta Primary B. It was a very fruitful and interesting morning, a big WELL DONE to all the pupils who took part in the competition.
